Friends, family, lenders, Realtors® and others will give you answers to this question, and many times these answers will be conflicting. How can you be sure you have all that you need? When in doubt, bring it!

Here are a few items you should always bring…from a closing attorney’s point of view

  • collected funds – wired funds being the preferred method
  • a check book as figures are subject to change
  • 2 acceptable forms of ID, at least one being a government issued photo ID
  • proof of insurance
  • any and all items required by the lender – even if previously provided

Always call the lender and the law firm prior to closing to determine if additional items are required for your closing. If everything needed is not presented at closing, your transaction may not close as scheduled.
